In January 2017 Joel became a member of staff the Northampton Music and Performing Arts Trust as a Child Workforce Teacher and a Musical Inclusion Teacher. Joel taught weekly 1-1 drum lessons at a secondary school and goes out to schools around Northamptonshire teaching workshops on a regular basis. As well as this, Joel teaches 1-1 with students privately at his home in London and also has the ability to arrange Skype lessons!
As well as private lessons, Joel is now available to teach workshops in your local schools.
Joel spent 2 years as a gymnastics coach teaching children from ages 2 - 18. He has a full DBS and is good with all ages/abilities.
Joel went into a secondary school in Hertfordshire to teach the sixth formers. He led a number of workshops from jazz, A level music and a Q&A on being a session musician. After the Jazz workshop Joel encouraged the teenagers to perform to the rest of the school which went down a storm!
If you think something like this is a good opportunity for your school please don't hesitate to get in touch!
Private Drum Lessons
Question & Answer
"Joel ran a jazz workshop at our school. The sixth form gained a real understanding of the different elements of jazz drumming and how to create a jazz style as a group. He led the workshops with sensitivity, clarity and attention to detail. Students developed in both confidence and technical ability. Students are still talking about the workshop - 5 weeks later! It is one of the highlights of their year.
Year 7 thoroughly enjoyed the performances and are eagerly looking forward to working weith Joel again. One pupil has practised every lunchtime since Joel's visit, 2 months ago.
This was an inspiring, unforgettable day."
